Dear future self,

Although delivering a speech in front of people can be very intimidating and you may feel very vulnerable with everyone's eyes watching you speak, you are quite capable of doing it. It may take a little bit of practice but after getting more comfortable with it, you will find it will come easier and easier. Giving a speech is probably one of the most nerve-racking things for you at the moment, but doing things like practicing the speech before, channeling your nervous energy, thinking positively, etc. will over time help with your nervousness while giving a speech. Some things you should definitely practice to help you overcome your nervousness is knowing your topic well, being organized, and think of yourself as a messenger. You have given speeches before and remember the one thing that always helped was practicing the speech out loud. Practicing out loud gave me a lot more confidence going into the speech. Another thing that always helped me was rather than focusing on the audience and being nervous that you're being judged the whole time, put all of your focus onto the speech, it will definitely make you feel more comfortable. Just remember this, practice, focus, and channel your nervous energy, and doing all of those things will help you give amazing speeches! Good luck with your future speech, you're going to do great!

Hello, my name is Tia Shook. I am from Greensburg Pennsylvania, and I went to Greensburg Salem High School. I am excited to learn some new skills in this class that can help me with my future. The main thing I look forward to taking away from this class is becoming a better public speaker. This entails channeling my nervousness, becoming more confident in front of a group of people, as well as working on not using filler words. All in all, I feel this class well help me have a successful future in the career I would like to pursuit.

A lot of basic things would make me happier like money, good health and family and friends being happier. Something that would be more personal to me that would make me happier is if my dad was healthy again. He was diagnosed with cancer at the end of 2020. He went through chemotherapy and the cancer is gone now. He still struggles with neuropathy. It would make me happier to see him be fully healed from the cancer and not struggle with the side effects of it anymore. Another thing that would make me happier is if my anatomy class was easier. There is a lot of work that comes along with anatomy, and it can be stressful sometimes, but I know I can't change the amount of work I get in a class. Lastly, I wish there were better people in the world. I always hear stories about human trafficking, or people getting killed or kidnapped. I wish those things didn't happen but unfortunately those things will probably never change. I just have to focus on myself to stay happy.
