When I think of the word compassion, I think of showing sympathy towards someone or a group of people who may be suffering or have problems with something. When I think of communication, I think of people talking or people exchanging some sort of information. When putting those words together it makes me think of someone showing some sort of sympathy or even pity towards a person when having a conversation. It helps people understand that when they're speaking to someone or a group of people that they can't blame them and have to be able to take some type of criticism without getting offended. Compassionate communication relates to public speaking in many ways. One way it relates is when speaking and showing compassion you have to acknowledge the aspects of similarities rather than our differences. Another way it relates is when speaking you have to be able to take constructive criticism by peers and people in a higher position same goes for compassion you have to be able to t...

In my opinion, I think time limits can be a good thing and a bad thing. It is a good thing because it can make a presenter get to the point in their speech rather than ramble on about irrelevant things. Another good thing about time limits is it can keep the presenter on track, so they don't start talking about other things and take too long to present. The last thing that could be an advantage for a time limit is if there is some type of schedule at work or school and you need to keep things flowing by using this time limit. A bad thing for a time limit is it may not give the presenter enough time to share all of their information so they feel rushed and may forget important topics to cover.  In high school we did a thing called senior projects. The senior project consisted of picking a topic that relates to the career we may want to go into in the future and your put a presentation together and there is a time limit for how long you have to talk for and a time that you can'...

A lot of basic things would make me happier like money, good health and family and friends being happier. Something that would be more personal to me that would make me happier is if my dad was healthy again. He was diagnosed with cancer at the end of 2020. He went through chemotherapy and the cancer is gone now. He still struggles with neuropathy. It would make me happier to see him be fully healed from the cancer and not struggle with the side effects of it anymore. Another thing that would make me happier is if my anatomy class was easier. There is a lot of work that comes along with anatomy, and it can be stressful sometimes, but I know I can't change the amount of work I get in a class. Lastly, I wish there were better people in the world. I always hear stories about human trafficking, or people getting killed or kidnapped. I wish those things didn't happen but unfortunately those things will probably never change. I just have to focus on myself to stay happy.

Hello, my name is Tia Shook. I am from Greensburg Pennsylvania, and I went to Greensburg Salem High School. I am excited to learn some new skills in this class that can help me with my future. The main thing I look forward to taking away from this class is becoming a better public speaker. This entails channeling my nervousness, becoming more confident in front of a group of people, as well as working on not using filler words. All in all, I feel this class well help me have a successful future in the career I would like to pursuit.

I decided to critique the speech by Admiral Mcraven about changing your life. Mcraven's speech was very inspirational and touched many people. He had strengths and a few weaknesses during his speech. Now we are first going to start off with his strengths. His first strength of his speech was he seemed very comfortable and had a good tone. I feel that he knew what he was talking about and although he may have been nervous speaking in front of all those people and cameras, he didn't show an ounce of nervousness. I feel that he also had a very strong attention-getter. He started off by saying starting your day off by making your bed is what everyone should do every day. I feel that it was kind of a funny attention-getter and seemed to tune everyone in. He had very few weaknesses during this speech. The only thing I could critique about his speech was at the beginning he told the crowd that he was going to be going over ten different stories. Each of these stories have their own l...
